The pattern

A network of causes
a maze of actions
a cobweb of events
a cross-stiched design
a hand weaving threads
thin yet tensile
crisscrossing paths
converging to one point
and diverging again
like tributaries of a river
or winding trails on hills
going round and round
everything happening
just outside my senses
a pattern emerging
forming and dissolving
always beyond my grasp

At the crossroads
is it time to stop
and look back
at the roads I have taken
or could have taken
all the roads I haven't taken
but should have taken
would the whole map
be revealed to me
would someone come
and show me the way
would I know why I'm going
the way I'm going
would all the paths
lead me to the same
end

  1. All paths will lead to where you are destined to reach. The turns may seem confusing, doubts may rule, and we may wonder at the wisdom of having taken a particular path but the destination has already been keyed into our GPS by someone who knows the place where we will evolve into our very best:) And, that's where we are headed, whether we know it or not. Like always, your poems come from the heart and touch the hearts of those who read them.

    1. Those words give me hope, my friend, that someone up there knows exactly where I am headed even if I can't figure it out.

On another note, have you noticed that how passing through the toughest of times makes me more creative, in terms of being able to write more poems? I don't think I have written as many poems in the last 4-5 years as I've written in the last 2 months of turmoil. I remember the last such creative outpouring was all those years back when I was passing through the most difficult phase of my life. So what they say is true- it's pain and adversity which brings out the best in us, and which makes me more prolific as a poet.

    2. The churning of your thoughts and emotions is certainly giving birth to words that describe so beautifully and gracefully the manner in which your are choosing to navigate the course of life. No matter where life takes us, we always have to remember our strengths and bank on them to take us through troubled times. One of your strengths is your creativity which takes the form of all this amazing poetry:)

  2. Thank you:) Hoping to write much more. Writing poems always helps me cope with my feelings better as it releases the pent-up emotions within me.
